**Day 1** St. John’s. (Wed.) Welcome to St. John’s! This evening mix and mingle with your traveling companions at the 7 p.m. Signature Welcome Reception combining fun and fine cuisine. Sample an abundance of 'Newfie' regional specialties while your tour director prepares you for your upcoming adventure. (SR)

**Day 2** St. John’s. Witless Bay Cruise. (Thu.) Tour the oldest settlement in North America with a special local expert. Visit Signal Hill National Historic Site, CABOT TOWER, the old town, and the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Then a short drive south to Witless Bay Ecological Reserve where whales and puffins abound. After lunch, board your boat for a narrated cruise around the three islands. Newfoundland has the largest concentration of spectacular humpback whales in the world and is known as the Seabird Capital of North America–with the largest Atlantic Puffin sanctuary in North America. Enjoy this exceptional spectacle. (Note: Puffins are usually seen from late May through late September.). (B,D)

**Day 3** St. John’s-Heart’s Content-Port Blandford. (Fri.) First off visit Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America. Then journey through Petty Harbour and across to historic Conception Bay. Travel along the Baccalieu Trail, known for its peaceful small towns, beautiful scenery, and wonderful hospitality. Continue to Harbour Grace, where Amelia Earhart took off in 1932 on her pioneering solo flight across the Atlantic. Afterwards visit HEART’S CONTENT CABLE STATION PROVINCIAL HISTORIC SITE, where the first transatlantic cable was landed in 1866. (B,D)

**Day 4** Port Blandford-Bonavista-Trinity-Gander. (Sat.) Visit Bonavista Peninsula and experience the charming and historic town of Bonavista. Visit Ryan Premises, the Cape Bonavista Lighthouse, and the Matthew Legacy Interpretation Centre. Afterwards continue to the historical community of Trinity and the region where the motion picture Shipping News was filmed (maybe even meet locals who appeared in the movie). Explore such sites as Hiscock House Provincial Historic Site, Lester Garland Premises Provincial Historic Site, and St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Continue to Gander, once the international crossroads of the world. (B,D)

**Day 5** Gander-Twillingate-Cornerbrook. (Sun.) Journey to Twillingate. While en route, with a little luck you might spot drifting icebergs and whales along the coast. Stop and explore the PRIME BERTH FISHING MUSEUM and the LONG POINT LIGHTHOUSE. In Grand Falls-Windsor, get a close-up look at the SALMONID INTERPRETATION CENTRE, one of North America’s largest Atlantic salmon enhancement projects. This provides a great opportunity to see salmon that are migrating upstream. (B,D)

**Day 6** Corner Brook. (Mon.) Late morning enjoy an orientation tour of Corner Brook, followed by a break in Curling to see the Captain Cook Memorial. Then travel along Humber Arm to the Bay of Islands with excellent photo opportunities on the way to Frenchman’s Cove. Enjoy a stop at Lark Harbour, a busy cod fishery. Savor great views of Guernsey, Tweed, and Pearl Islands on the return to Corner Brook. This evening enjoy a combination of 'Newfie' music, fun, and entertainment. (B,D)

**Day 7** Corner Brook-Gros Morne National Park. (Tue.) Skirt the shores of Deer Lake and head north to GROS MORNE NATIONAL PARK, a United Nations World Heritage Site known for its exceptional beauty and unique geological features. To look closer into the forces of nature that have shaped the land and the people on this World Heritage coast, visit the new DISCOVERY CENTRE. From here ferry across to Norris Point and continue to your overnight hotel. (B,D)

**Day 8** Gros Morne National Park-Plum Point. (Wed.) Depart for Plum Point visiting a number of important sites along the way. At the Lobster Cove Head visit the LIGHTHOUSE and the fascinating marine displays. Next is BROOM POINT where you will discover the history of Canada’s earliest fishing settlements. Spend time here and discover why Newfoundlanders are considered to be among the warmest and most welcoming people in the world. Continue to ARCHES PROVINCIAL PARK, home to an ancient limestone carved by eons of pounding surf. Lastly view glacier-carved gorges on the way to PORT-AU-CHOIX NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE. The exhibits here focus on archaeological finds of Maritime Archaic and Dorset peoples, who settled here before 2,000 BC. (B,D)

**Day 9** Plum Point-Red Bay-L’Anse-au-Clair. (Thu.) Board your ferry to cross the Strait of Belle Isle, known as Iceberg Alley, to Blanc Sablon. Then to Red Bay, the first major industrial complex of the New World and home to a 16th-century Basques whaling station. Boat over to Saddle Island for an insightful tour of excavations and shipwrecks that confirm European habitation since the 16th century. Back to the mainland to L’Anse-au-Clair. Note: Icebergs are most often seen in June and July. (B,D)

**Day 10** L’Anse-au-Clair-L’Anse aux Meadows-Plum Point. (Fri.) Ferry back to St. Barbe. Enter L’ANSE AUX MEADOWS NATIONAL HISTORIC SITE, site of the only known Viking settlement in North America and a United Nations World Heritage Site. Tour the reconstructed sod houses and learn from costumed actors and interpreters about how the Vikings lived. Also see Norse artifacts dating back to 1,000 AD. Next is St. Anthony, home of the internationally renowned GRENFELL MISSION where Sir Wilfred Grenfell brought modern medicine to remote Labrador communities in the 1890s. Tour his family home and visit the Interpretation Centre. This evening enjoy a Viking Feast. (B,D)

**Day 11** Plum Point-St. Anthony-St. John’s. (Sat.) Today take a private chartered flight to St. John’s. As you fly over the eastern coast of Newfoundland, you may have an opportunity to see icebergs, whales, and small port communities. Afternoon at leisure. Maybe join the included trip to one of St. John’s newest attractions: the GEO CENTRE. Located on world-famous Signal Hill, the Johnson GEO CENTRE is a state-of-the-art natural and cultural history museum and multi-media theater. This evening your tour director hosts a festive farewell dinner party, with the traditional screech-in ceremony and entertainment. (B,D)

**Day 12** St. John’s. (Sun.) The tour ends this morning with tour guests departing on individual schedules. Airport transfers are provided. (B)
