The Programme:
**Day 1**
Pick-Up from accommodation by guide for Tamworth Tour. Tamworth Country Music Capital sights, ˇ§Walk a Country Mileˇ¨ country music interpretive exhibition, the famous ˇ§Golden Guitarˇ¨, Oxley Lookout & views over the breadbowl of Australia - the Liverpool Plains, Tamworth Livestock & Sale Yards, Cattle Sales & Sheep Sales, Agriculture in Action, Visits to various operations may incl. aquaculture, wool stores, flour mills, silos & abattoirs. Meet the locals first hand; learn about their rural industries & the lives they support.
Dept. Tamworth. Transfer to Jackaroo Jillaroo School
Arr. Jackaroo Jillaroo School Welcome by staff, check in Hospitality in original Shearers Quarters or Cottages New Jackaroos & Jillaroos greeted by station staff upon arrival. Overview of property provided. Review & complete job application forms (if necessary) ready for processing, preview Jackaroo Jillaroo program.

**Day 2**
Breakfast: Cooked Aussie Breakfast: Sausages, Eggs, Toast, Cereal, Jam
Demonstration & participation in sheep shearing with a shearer Learn how to 'Roustabout' in the Woolshed. Learn how to pickup a fleece, throw the fleece, skirt the fleece, roll the wool, sweep up the locks and all other general duties. General explanation of wool, the industry, the different roles of the shearing team & a 'day in the life of a shearing shed' Shearer provides comprehensive commentary during demonstration Full explanation of processes & procedures.
'Work in Progress' Learn how to crutch sheep, Woolshed Roustabouting, Pressing Wool, Gear Maintenance etc
Smoko: Make the perfect cup of Billy Tea, swing the billy & bake damper
Demonstration of working dogs rounding up and penning sheep Learn basic 'Livestock Handling' duties including how to handle sheep in the yards & race. Learn how to draft & count sheep. Learn how to drench sheep. Learn how to identify sheep sexes, breeds, age and health. Learn all general sheep maintenance & care
'Work in Progress' Sheep maintenance, Crutching sheep, Woolshed Roustabouting, Pressing Wool, Back lining, Treating Fly Blown Sheep, Gear Maintenance etc
Lunch: Country Cooked Meal

**Day 3**
Breakfast: Cooked Aussie Breakfast: Sausages, Eggs, Toast, Cereal, Jam
Learn how to ride a horse 'Australian Stockman style'. How to mount a horse. Learn walking & rising trot on saddled & unsaddled horse in round yard. One on one instruction, remainder of group learns through observation. Explain why it is important to have a solid understanding of Horsemanship fundamentals.
Learn how to catch and bridle a horse. Complete learning about Tac How to groom a horse. How to saddle a horse. How to check horses girth. How to pick out horses hooves.
Learn basic horse phycology. How to build trust in a horse. How to understand a horse. Learn safety around horses.
Round yard work. Introduction to horsemanship fundamentals. (A good refresher for advanced riders who may assist by demonstrating)
This is a participation & observation session.

Open paddock ride. Practice new skills. Practice how to ride a horse. Practice how to mount a horse. Practice walking & rising trot on saddled horse in the open
Unsaddling horses, return gear to Tac shed, feeding and hosing down horses
Whip Cracking & Roping. Learn how to use a stockwhip. Learn how to rope.

**Day 4**
Breakfast: Cooked Aussie Breakfast: Sausages, Eggs, Toast, Cereal, Jam
Feed Horses and Check horses
Fencing. Learn how to build a stock proof fence. Learn how to dig holes and position posts, strainers, stays etc. Learn how to spin wire and strain a fence. Learn use of fencing equipment including spinner, fencing pliers, drill and strainers. Learn how to repair a fence including damaged ˇ§pop holedˇ¨ fence. Learn how to hang a gate. Learn how to repair a flood block.
Horse Husbandry. Explanation by staff about horse healthcare, maintenance, diet, behaviour, history, farriering, dental etc
Saddle Up Horses
'Work in Progress' Farriering, drenching horses, caring for sick or injured horses, replace lost shoe, dentist, horse gentler
Boundary Ride. Check fences, clear and repair 'pop holes' and damage caused by kangaroos, pigs and vermin
Unsaddle Horses, brush & hose, put Tac away Country Cooked Meal
Prepare for Station Campout Depart for Campout by Station 4WD
Arrive Station Campout by 4WD Setup Campout Campout Activities Swimming in Dam & Water Swing Campfire Cooking Whip Cracking Leatherwork Bush Skills Campfire & Yarns

**Day 5**

Feed Horses Saddle up horses Depart for Muster Packed smoko, boliling tea in quart pots Mustering Cattle. Learn how to work cattle on horseback. Muster cattle into yards. Learn how to work with cattle in the yards. Explanation of work to be done including drafting cattle and how to force cattle up the race. Learn safety & precautions when working with cattle in yards including gates, movements around yards and cattle temperaments. Check cattle tags and cattle records.
Learn the role of the Jackaroo & Jillaroo in mustering why it is important part of the operation.
